Newsletter July 2010 Editorial

Planet Action is happy to present our newsletter!

Activity is continuing to grow, and more than 350 projects are benefitting from support from Planet Action and its partners. In the past few months we have received feedback from many projects who are doing amazing work on the ground on climate change- related issues. We will continue to post results on our website and encourage everyone to share. Thanks to all those who have taken the time to provide reports and we look forward to learning more about your projects and how the imagery and GIS technologies are used.

Outreach is taking off also. We are working with Planète Sciences Midi-Pyrénées here in Toulouse to develop activities for young people to help them learn about biodiversity and how climate change impacts threatened tiger habitats throughout Asia. NGO partners and the WWF are providing input to raise awareness in this year of the tiger.

Louis-François Guerre, well known to the entire Planet Action community, has decided to leave Spot Image to pursue new professional challenges. His contribution to the development of Planet Action has been considerable over the past 3 years and we wish him continued success in his new adventures. Thanks Louis-F!

Planet Action will be at the ESRI User’s Conference in San Diego in July and in Cancun for the Cop 16 at the end of the year.
